A BLOG OF STUFF

Hi, I'm a total loser.
I talk a lot of wank.

Photography, music, the occasional serious post... but let's be honest, this is mostly just me spaffing about various TV shows.

21, UK.

I take photos:
- Flickr photostream
- my website
- my blog
- my photo blog

There's some stuff "about me" here.

I like these things.

I look like this.

I also run Fuck Yeah Vintage Photography and Fuck Yeah Northern Lights, which you should totally follow.

And lastly, here is a Spotify playlist. Do your ears a favour and listen to it. ^_^

P.S. Most of the photos I post on this blog are not my own, but will be credited with a click-through link and source. Let me know if your photo is featured and you want it removed and I'll take it down right away! My photos will be posted at the links I listed at the top of this section.

Ummmm the National Museum Wales just said they instantly thought of August Sander when they saw my final uni photography project. Brb dying.

He is my favourite photographer ever and that is literally the biggest compliment I’ve ever received about my work.

Think the interview went fairly well - it was relaxed and friendly and the people were really nice and professional…, now I’ve got to wait another week or two to find out if my application was successful!

Question to people who live and come from OUTSIDE of Wales (UK or non-UK) - for uni revision/research…?

When you think of Wales, what do you think of?

Stereotypes (positive and negative, serious and comical), symbols, history, traditions, current affairs, politics, TV shows… anything?

If you can’t think of anything, can you also say that?

Photographing people as they see themselves. I photographed through a mirror while the subjects looked at their own reflection - meaning they saw the exact same image (inverted, obviously) that my camera did. I asked them to try to forget that I was there with my camera, while they looked at their own faces.

HELP - I need people to photograph in Cardiff for my university project next week!

PLEASE REBLOG!

I’m looking for people to model for my major photography project, which is worth almost half of my degree. Any background, any gender, any age within a rough 18-30 bracket (although that isn’t a strict age limit, I just want to focus on young adults). By models I do mean ordinary, everyday people of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds etc.

My project is about photographing people while they look at their own reflections. While they do this, I will be photographing through a mirror - so the subjects’ view of themselves is almost exactly what I will be capturing on my camera.

I need as many models as possible, so if any of you are willing and available on 12th April or 14th April could you please let me know?

Alternatively, if you know anyone who might be suitable could you pass this information on?

The shoot will be taking place in a studio in central Cardiff (more details can be provided) and each photo shouldn’t be more than 10-15 minutes of shooting.

My target is to photograph at least 30 people. So far I have around 20 people who have confirmed, and some other people who have said they may be available, but not for definite. So any help is greatly appreciated!

AND as an extra incentive, I plan on buying some tins of chocolate for participants to dip into!

Comment on this photo, Flickrmail me, Tweet me or email me at the address shown if you are interested!

If anyone could reblog this I would love you forever!

I have the studio booked out 9am-close on 12th April and 9am-1pm on 14th April. Is anyone free in Cardiff during those times and willing to let me quickly photograph them?

Details in my post here

This is actually for uni work… but does the Mirror Of Erised appear in any of the later Harry Potter books / films?

Or is it just in the Philosophers Stone?

I’m having a mental block and haven’t read the books for a couple of years.

pollywaffle:

Test shoot.

Shot through a mirror, with a hole left in the backing material but covered in glass. The subject is looking at their own reflection as the photograph is taken.

I forgot to run this through a high pass filter and it shows, but my laptop is being too slow to do that now.

Having your photo taken while you are looking at yourself is actually really unnerving, even when you’re taking the photo yourself.

I have no problem taking self-portraits, as my Flickr photostream shows. But when you are staring back at your own face it is actually really different!

Probably the least flattering self-portrait I’ve ever uploaded. AWKWARD.

(Also, my hair colour ALWAYS fucks up when I upload a JPEG to the web. Red is evil.)

Literally a 10-15 minute shoot. My arms are going to KILL me unless I can find a way to rig this mirror to a tripod - because my current technique is to lift it at arms-length to eye level. POWER BICEPS!

Camera on a tripod and shutter released via remote.

Can anyone hit me with names of (photography) portraitists who show vulnerability / intimacy etc?

The essay I’m writing today isn’t exactly fun, but compared to last week’s nightmarish one (which involved dissecting old political documents and talking about the rifts formed in an early 20th-century Welsh nationalist political party with both Catholicism and radical nationalism present… yeah, my degree isn’t all fun and games just because it’s a media degree!), it is an actual joy to write.

My favourite photographer and photographic theory… I’m actually enjoying researching this right now.

I am an enthusiastic aspiring music photographer currently based in Cardiff. I have experience photographing live music in venues of varying sizes and styles, as well as festivals, both from the photographers’ pit and documenting backstage activity. I have also taken promotional photos for several artists. I have had work published in NME and The Fly, and contributed to thisisfakeDIY, as well as taken promotional photos for Live UnLtd, a charity marketed by The Culture Group. I shoot primarily digital, but have experience working with film. Outside of music photography, I have experience in street photograph, and photoshoots both on location and in the studio.

I had to write a 100 word biography for my photography website, CV and portfolio accompaniment in uni today. This is what I have so far. It’s so badly written though… I need to change the sentences so that they don’t all start with “I” for a start. Eurgh.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
